Original practice question
Find the equation of the straight line through $A(-3, 7)$ and $B(5, -5)$. Give an exact answer.
Worked explanation
- Calculate the gradient
$m=\frac{-5-(7)}{5-(-3)}=- \frac{3}{2}$.
- Use point-gradient form
$y-(7)=- \frac{3}{2}(x-(-3))$.
- Simplify
$y=\frac{5}{2} - \frac{3 x}{2}$.
$y=\frac{5}{2} - \frac{3 x}{2}$.
