Find the rule for $f^{-1}$ given $f(x) = \dfrac{-2}{x + 2}$.

Worked explanation

• Write x = f(y) and solve for y

  \[x = \dfrac{-2}{y + 2}\]

• Rearrange to find f^{-1}(x)

  \[f^{-1}(x) = -2 - \frac{2}{x}\]

-2 - 2/x
