• Identify chain rule: y = f(u) where u = g(x)

  \[y = e^{2x + 2}, \quad u = 2x + 2\]

• dy/dx = dy/du × du/dx

  \[\dfrac{dy}{dx} = 2 e^{2 x + 2}\]
